My name is Zhang Lu, a medical student from Wuhan University in China. It is really my honor as the representative of Wuhan University to participant in the exchange study to Fukushima Medical University. What makes me feel even more honorable is to have the learning opportunity in the Department of Urology. I want to show my great respect to every doctor in this excellent group.

Anyone will be attracted by scenically stunning views that the autumn wind brings to Fukushima Medical University. While I am more addicted to the learning feast of urological surgeries. I will never forget the scene to observe the robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy by Da Vinci Surgical System for the first time. Not only the surgery itself impressed me, but also Prof. Kojima and the medical team amazed me. After regular shift in the morning conference, students have a mini course about arrangements and study notes for this week. Prof. Kojima always has a detailed explanation about standard/special surgery procedures and anatomy review by drawing the unique and actual pictures just for this patient. It is easier to copy the anatomy atlas. But Prof. Kojima wants to make the students understand as much as possible. He spends a lot of time communicating with students. The teaching lectures are constantly improved according to the feedback. Nothing is more inspiring for a medical student to learn the most advanced medical technics from charming teachers, meanwhile absorbing enormous amount knowledge. Good teachers always satisfy and keep the curiosity of students at the same time. The more you have already known, the more you want to know. I always feel strong motivation to explore during these days.

In the hospital, it is a very interesting coincidence that the pronunciation of ward round in Japanese sounds same as happiness in Chinese. Exactly the round undergoes in such harmony atmosphere based on the respect and trust between doctors and patients. The department truly has a comprehensive and advanced development in many aspects. Fortunately, I learn many complicated and rare cases delivered from the general hospitals. The advanced systems of records and follow-up also guarantee overall comprehension for doctors and better medical service for patients. Witnessing patients complete trusting in doctors and doctors devoting themselves for the patients, I confirm the stronger conviction to be a urological doctor just like them.

As for research, every doctor continues to researches after clinical practices. The belief makes doctors courageously lead a fulfilled life that clinical experience equivalent to basic researches contributes to better understanding of diseases and patients. Meanwhile, academic exchange counts a lot. Fortunately, there are various local and international conferences in the end of year. I am so honorable to participate in the 2nd annual meeting of clinical oncology in Yokohama. What an amazing brain storm to broaden the horizons! You can always find diverse clinical researches in different angles. It is also an opportunity of communication and presentation. Recently many doctors in this department won many awards presenting reports. Because they have solid bases and further developments combining with full preparations and repeated exercises. Every member spears no efforts to improving themselves and helping each other. It is more team glory than individual glory. Although they are already good surgeons and researchers but they never stop learning and practicing.

After work, they just look like magicians when they take off the white coat. They turn simply white into colorful. Everyone even becomes more charming and charismatic when talking about their own amazing experiences. I cannot help being attracted. Before I came to this department, some people had told me the doctors might be a little quiet and shy. But they are all shining stars in my eyes. I cannot take my eyes off and always unconsciously fix all my attention on them. So I really learn a lot from unspoken teaching. They have all characters of good doctors. Firstly, they have excellent clinical skills, ability of research and good communications with patients. In addition, they always keep learning, practicing and teaching. Significantly, great team work makes a big difference for improvements. I believe this experience will benefit me for whole life. In particular, Dr. Matsuoka, the only female doctor here, really teaches me a lot. Her energy, enthusiasm and attitude already have given and will give me profound influences positively in the future.

Wonderful time always flies fast unconsciously. I truly feel grateful for everything I have experienced here. I will treasure every moment in this department. Please receive my great respect and sincere appreciation to everyone. Looking forward to coming back here for further study.
